Just because I’m no longer at FTA, doesn’t mean the H2H series against Daniel is gone. We are still having H2H matchups until the end of the season, with each day’s winner writing the recap. Even though it’s been a little while since I’ve written a recap, it feels just as sweet as I remember. Heading into last night, the standings were all tied up at 9-9-1. The tie was broken in the most logical way possible: a Josh Engleman victory.
This is how I felt when I woke up this morning and saw the results.
The actual matchup was Jordan Clarkson, Tyreke Evans, Tim Duncan and Hassan Whiteside against Daniel’s squad of Marcus Smart, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Davis and Aron Baynes. Clarkson was an absolute disaster, but luckily, I was bailed out by Whiteside’s double-double. Duncan hit the 5X mark, while Evans underperformed slightly.
I liked his Marcus Smart play a lot. I actually had him on DraftKings. I wasn’t the biggest Jimmy Butler fan but I think it’s a completely reasonable pick. He outperformed Tyreke Evans, so there’s not much I can say. When the news came out late that Aron Baynes was getting the start, I actually said to Daniel in a chat that I felt like Baynes was going to hit 7X. Ridiculous statement, but it just felt like a typical Spurs move. By downgrading to a minimum salary Baynes, that allowed him to upgrade to AD at PF. While it didn’t work out in his favor, I think the process is incredibly sound. The underperformance of Anthony Davis is what cost him this game. There’s nothing you can really do about that.
