FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Projections – February 6, 2015

The following daily fantasy basketball projections are created using a method similar to Basketball Reference’s Simple Projection System. I have a quick walkthrough of my process here. If you have any questions, please feel to ask here, via email (jengl867 AT gmail DOT com) or on Twitter (@JoshEngleman).

Quick note: when it comes to the Best Plays/Best Values, these are all of the guys that currently are in my shortlist for tonight. I’m literally listing everyone that I will potentially roster. If they aren’t listed in those two places, then I won’t be rostering them. Obviously this changes as more news comes about injuries, but this is truly how it looks right now for me.

If you are trying to up your DFS game, I highly recommend checking out Fantasy Cruncher. It really is an amazing tool. It provides a great blueprint, plus it helps keep you organized.

Daily Fantasy Basketball H2H Series: Day 21

Winning feels good. That’s why I enjoy this head to head contest. Beating Daniel makes it incredibly easy to feel good about myself. With that said, here’s last night’s scoreboard:

I assume he’s feeling like this right about now.

The actual matchup was Devin Harris, Monta Ellis, Gerald Henderson, Matt Barnes and Kevin Love versus Daniel’s team of J.J. Barea, Bradley Beal, Nicolas Batum, Al-Farouq Aminu and LaMarcus Aldridge. I felt like Harris/Barea were a coin flip, so it was easier to just take the guy with the lower price. Monta Ellis had a nice matchup, and this pick looked even better once the news came out about Dirk Nowitzki. He ended up just short of 5X, so I can’t complain too much. Gerald Henderson went bananas for nearly 8X value. Unfortunately, that was balanced out by Matt Barnes getting ejected. Kevin Love underperformed, but on a low scoring night, it was still solid.

I really liked Daniel’s team at first glance. My only issue was LaMarcus Aldridge. I’m leery of him right now because I don’t trust his health. Ultimately, he was fine last night. Bradley Beal was hurt early, which was a huge blow right off the bat. Batum played incredibly well, which helped make up for Beal, but with Aminu underperforming, it was too much to overcome.

H2H Series Scoreboard:

Josh Engleman – 11
Daniel “md4” Flores – 9
Ties – 1

Daily Fantasy Basketball H2H Series: Day 20

Just because I’m no longer at FTA, doesn’t mean the H2H series against Daniel is gone. We are still having H2H matchups until the end of the season, with each day’s winner writing the recap. Even though it’s been a little while since I’ve written a recap, it feels just as sweet as I remember. Heading into last night, the standings were all tied up at 9-9-1. The tie was broken in the most logical way possible: a Josh Engleman victory.

This is how I felt when I woke up this morning and saw the results.

The actual matchup was Jordan Clarkson, Tyreke Evans, Tim Duncan and Hassan Whiteside against Daniel’s squad of Marcus Smart, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Davis and Aron Baynes. Clarkson was an absolute disaster, but luckily, I was bailed out by Whiteside’s double-double. Duncan hit the 5X mark, while Evans underperformed slightly.

I liked his Marcus Smart play a lot. I actually had him on DraftKings. I wasn’t the biggest Jimmy Butler fan but I think it’s a completely reasonable pick. He outperformed Tyreke Evans, so there’s not much I can say. When the news came out late that Aron Baynes was getting the start, I actually said to Daniel in a chat that I felt like Baynes was going to hit 7X. Ridiculous statement, but it just felt like a typical Spurs move. By downgrading to a minimum salary Baynes, that allowed him to upgrade to AD at PF. While it didn’t work out in his favor, I think the process is incredibly sound. The underperformance of Anthony Davis is what cost him this game. There’s nothing you can really do about that.

H2H Series Scoreboard:

Josh Engleman – 10
Daniel “md4” Flores – 9
Ties – 1
